Tax-Free Shopping Guide at ISHIBASHI MUSIC

Tax-free shopping is available for foreign visitors to Japan at ISHIBASHI MUSIC’s physical stores, as well as for Japanese nationals temporarily returning from abroad who meet specific conditions. If you wish to make a tax-free purchase, please carefully review the following eligibility criteria and procedures.

■Tax Exemption Eligibility

Customers who fall under one of the following categories are eligible:

• Foreign nationals with a residence status of “Temporary Visitor,” “Diplomat,” or “Official.”
• U.S. military personnel holding a SOFA stamp.
• Foreign nationals who have entered Japan with a landing permission (e.g., Transit Landing Permission, Port of Call Landing Permission, Crew Landing Permission).
• Japanese citizens temporarily returning to Japan who have lived abroad continuously for over two years and are within six months of re-entry into Japan.
  (Submission of either a Koseki no Fuhyo (a supplementary document to the family register that records address history) or a Certificate of Overseas Residence is required to verify eligibility.)

■ Tax-Free Items and Purchase Requirements

• Eligible Items: General goods (e.g., musical instruments, accessories, clothing, etc.)
• Minimum Purchase Amount: Total purchase must be ¥5,000 or more (excluding tax) made on the same day

■ Tax-Free Procedure

1. Passport Presentation

   Please present your passport showing a valid entry stamp or visa status. (Photocopies are not accepted.)

2. Purchase & Payment

   Eligible items will be charged at the tax-exempt (pre-tax) price.

3. Electronic Registration

   Your purchase information will be electronically submitted to the National Tax Agency via the tax-free system.

4. At Time of Departure

   Tax-free items must be carried with you when leaving Japan. If the items are not in your possession upon departure, you may be required to pay the exempted consumption tax.

■ Important Notes

• Tax-free procedures must be completed on the day of purchase.
• Some items may be excluded from tax exemption.

■ Regarding Returns of Duty-Free Purchases

• Please note that items purchased duty-free at our store cannot be returned or exchanged after purchase.
• We kindly ask that you carefully check the product details and specifications before making your purchase, and proceed with this understanding. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

■ Regarding Warranty for Duty-Free Purchases

• Products purchased duty-free are not covered by warranty, regardless of whether they are used domestically or internationally.
• According to the manufacturer’s terms and conditions, warranties for both brand new and used products are generally valid only within Japan.
• Duty-free products are not intended for use within Japan, and therefore, warranty and support are not available either domestically or internationally. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your cooperation.

The tax-free purchased items MUST leave Japan with you upon your departure.

The tax rate in Japan is 10%. To calculate your Tax-Free price, simply take the displayed price and ÷ by 1.1
For example: ￥98,000 ÷ 1.1 = ￥89,090 and that is the price you will pay.

Goods purchased for business or commercial purposes are not eligible for the tax-free program.

Tax-free procedures will be processed at the shop where you purchase the goods and cannot be processed togther with goods purchased in other shops.

Tax-free procedures will be processed on the day you purchase the goods. The rule is steadfast. No Passort, no Tax-exemption is possible.
